General
What is AniManGaki?
Presently, AniManGaki extends beyond just an event, but also serves as a community leader, providing consultation and event solution services for various ACG related projects.
What does the name AniManGaki stand for?
AniManGaki is the portmanteau of four words: Anime, Manga, Games, and Gaki (Japanese slang for ‘brat’).
The convention name was coined on 30th March 2009 at 3.00am via MSN Messenger Chatroom between the founder and a crew member. The finishing piece came easy, given that it was the founder’s nickname for the crew members. You’ve guessed it right; it was the word ‘gaki’.
Am I a 'Gaki'?
The word ‘gaki’ in Japanese means ‘brat’. Originally a nickname strictly reserved for the crew members, the term now extends to include all fans and attendees of AniManGaki. It acts as a sign of bond between us, you, and many other ‘gaki’s out there. High-five a fellow ‘gaki’ today!
Who or what are the mascots of AniManGaki?
Kei-chan is AniManGaki’s official mascot. A playful lion, Kei-chan represents excitement and joy. Its gender remains highly debatable. Your guess is as good as ours. Ten-chan, sister to Kei-chan, is the official mascot of AniManGaki-chan. She hatched from an egg Kei-chan discovered inside a hidden dungeon. An innocent, young Tengu, Ten-chan represents purity and unity. Lastly, the latest addition to the family is Aki-kun. The tech-loving koala bear is tentatively in charge of another project called Arts, Cosplay & Etc.
