Yugana Senshi

Yugana Senshi Uon,currently a Full-Time-Stay-At-Home-Mother, embarked into the world of cosplay in 2013, as genderbend Joker during AFA, Singapore. An International Cosplay Judge and guest for various events in Malaysia, Dubai, and the Philippines. She is the consultant and judge for the first ever cosplay competition crafting television series in Asia – Cosplay Heroes by Iflix sponsored by Axiata, the Cosplay ambassador for ColourVUE contact lenses, ambassador for Otakyun Sarawak, the ambassador and consultant for 1st SupaComic, and SupaComic 2019 by TheStar. She also worked with various brands such as Photobook, UD Trucks, and many more. Yugana’s work, interviews and features have captured attention the world over in International media such as Smoosh website, Cosplay Culture magazine, Cosplayzine, The Straits Time Singapore , The Star, Gulf News, Daily Express, The Heat Malaysia, The Art of Cosplay, 5 Cups, Maus Journal, Eleven Tsuki, ‘Borneo Post SEEDS’, ‘GeekXGirls’ and many more.

Shinku_真紅

Shinku_真紅 is a Malaysian cosplayer with more than 10 years of cosplay experience under her belt. Together with her teammate, she was the Malaysian representative for Clara Cow’s Coplay Cup 2017 at Animecon in Netherlands, and also World Cosplay Summit at Nagoya in 2018. Shinku_真紅 has also worked with various reputable companies such as Garena Free Fire and Skyforge. Apart from competing in cosplay competitions and appearances at events, she was also invited at various events as a Cosplay Competition Judge both locally and overseas.

Fujiwara Kazuko

From the cosplay duo Weon Haur & Fujiwara Kazuko who has been competing and judging cosplay competitions since 2010. Her recent interest is making family cosplay plans with her husband and daughter.

Rules & Regulations

This competition is open to all regardless of nationality but participants must be a resident and living in Malaysia.
Participants must be 14 years old and above to join. For those under the age of 18, please seek parental/guardian consent before participating.
AniManGaki 2022 Cosplay Competition 1st place Winners are not allowed to join this year (both for competing and as helpers). A grace period of one (1) year is required for all winners of this competition.
Participants must be fully vaccinated.
Entries must only consist of 2-3 cosplayers and up to 2 helpers.
A refundable deposit of RM 100.00 is required to enter the competition.
Deposits will be refunded to participants who participated and were present during the competition. Absence or pull outs of any participants without informing the crew by 13th of August 2023 will result in a forfeit of the deposit paid.
All deposits will be refunded within seven (7) working days after the competition day (ie. by 6th September 2023)

Non-compliance would result in disqualification.
The performance theme for this year’s Cosplay Competition is Space. Skits must include simple elements of space (eg: spaceship, planets, aliens etc.) (Example of series are Space Dandy, Mobile Suit Gundam, Star Wars etc).
Bonus points will be awarded for incorporating Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion HYDRATING LOTION (LIGHT) (hadalabo.com.my) into your skit.
Participants must cosplay as an official character from an officially released anime/cartoon, manga/comic or game. No original characters or fan-made characters. No mix of characters from different sources.
Helpers must not be the center of the performance. Helpers are only meant to assist in the performance of cosplayer participants. For example:

  • Set up props before the performance
  • As a prop themselves
  • As a background extra
  • As a ‘Mook‘
  • Clean up props after the performance

Registration officially ends on 13th August 2023 at 11.59PM (GMT+8) or when all 10* slots are taken, whichever is earlier. Registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Should you need to make any changes, please RESUBMIT a new form before the deadline and inform us! The latest entry will automatically replace any previous entry. Post-deadline (re)submissions will not be entertained.
No walk-ins allowed.
Every submission is final; kindly ensure all details provided are complete & accurate. Incomplete & inaccurate submissions will be disqualified.
An acknowledgement email will be sent to you within three (3) working days of registration submission, confirming your participation in the competition.
By participating in this contest, each participant accepts the conditions stated in the rules and agrees to be bound by the decisions of AniManGaki.
By entering and/or accepting the prize, Participants and Winners agree to hold AniManGaki and its promotional partners, its directors, officers, employees and assigns harmless for liability, damages or claims for injury or loss to any person or property relating to, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, participation in this Contest, the acceptance and/or subsequent use or misuse, or condition of the prizes awarded, or claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy.
AniManGaki, in their sole discretion, reserve the immediate and unrestricted right to disqualify any entrant or prize winner, if either commits or has committed any act, or has been involved or becomes involved in any situation or occurrence which AniManGaki deems likely to subject AniManGaki, entrant or winner to ridicule, scandal or contempt or which reflects unfavorably upon AniManGaki in any way. If such information is discovered by AniManGaki after a winner has received notice of his/her prize and before the prize is awarded, AniManGaki may rescind the prize in its entirety. If a portion of his/her prize has already been awarded, AniManGaki may withdraw the remainder of the prize that has been fulfilled.

Stage Performance

Participants are given up to 6 minutes of stage time, 3 minutes of performance time, 2 minutes for setup and up to 2 minutes for cleanup.
Exceeding the setup and cleanup time will result in a penalty.
Judges will give comments after every participant’s turn.
Note that the maximum number of stage props is 4.
As AniManGaki is a family-friendly event, no explicit or NSFW behaviours are allowed during performances. Please keep the swearing to a minimum as well.
Space allocated for the performance is a maximum of 4m x 6m. Stage measures at approximately 6m x 12m, height is approximately 3.2m*.

All videos should be prepared at 1080p of 16:9 aspect ratio in .mp4 format and maximum 3 minutes.
Please bring a copy of your video in a pendrive as backup during rehearsals.

Cosplay Apparels & Props

Make sure your props are sturdy enough for your performance to avoid damaging any stage equipment or harming the audience.
As AniManGaki is a family-friendly event, the following is not allowed:

  • Explicit clothing
  • Sharp or metal props
  • Illegal apparel as stated by the Malaysia Law
  • Illegal weapons as stated by the Malaysian Firearms Law
  • Live or loaded projectile weaponry, including any type of gun
    • Liquids, powder, explosive, corrosive, radioactive, abrasive, confetti, glitter, bubbles, fire or any other fragmented prop which are difficult to clean upon performance are not allowed.
    Limited number of chairs and tables as well as microphones will only be provided upon request.

    Penalty Marks & Disqualification

    1. Participants will be disqualified from the competition if any of the actions are done:

      1. Failure to resubmit video to the Organiser by the deadline set
      2. Failure to register and attend the Rehersal on Saturday, 26/08/2023 (time to be advised)
      3. Failure to check-in 30minutes at the backstage area before competition time, Sunday, 27/08/2023 @ 3:00PM
      4. Usage of illegal props/weapons/substance during the competition
      5. Performing acts and using words that are deemed inappropriate or sensitive under Malaysian law (Keep it PG everyone! There’s children around)
    2. Disqualification will result in one (1) year softban of the participants from any future AniManGaki related competition and deposit being forfeited.
    3. During the competition, the following Penalty marks will be deducted if participants performs the following no-nos:
    Exceed setup and tear down time (2 mins)- 5 pts
    Breaking/Flying Props- 5 pts
    More than 4 stage props used- 3 pts
    Helpers ARE the center of the performance- 5 pts

    Other Terms & Conditions

    By entering the competition, participants have consented by default that:

    • AniManGaki is not responsible for any damages to participants’ costumes or props during performance.
    • AniManGaki is not responsible for participants’ physical damage or injury during performance. First-aid will be provided if necessary.
    • AniManGaki is not responsible for any property or emotional losses during participants’ performance.
    • Participants are held responsible for any damages to stage equipment caused during performance.
    • AniManGaki and its partners reserve the right to use participants’ images & performance recordings for promotional purposes.
    • AniManGaki and its partners reserve the rights to alter the rules & structure of the competition as we see fit.
    • By submitting your entries, all participants agree and acknowledge that all intellectual property rights thereto shall belong to AniManGaki and its partners. AniManGaki and its partners shall have the exclusive right to use, edit, modify and publish the entry submitted by all the participants, publish or not publish the names of the participants, in any way it deems fit for any advertising, trade, promotional purpose and for any other reason whatsoever, without any further notice to the participants and the participants shall not claim ownership or any payment or compensation on the materials. For the avoidance of doubt, the submissions will not be edited for judging purposes.
    • AniManGaki and its partners reserve the right to disqualify anyone who is deemed unsuitable for the competition, and judges’ decisions are final.
    • All results given by judges are finalised and cannot be contested.
    • AniManGaki and its partners will not bear any cost related to the entry of the contestants.
    • By participating in this contest, each participant accepts the conditions stated in the rules and agrees to be bound by the decisions of AniManGaki. Every submission is final; please ensure all details provided are complete and accurate. Incomplete and inaccurate submissions will be disqualified.

    Covid-19 SOP

    • All participants must be fully vaccinated.
    • Face masks are encouraged, but not mandatory.
    • Sanitize and maintain good hygiene whenever possible.
    • A Self Covid RTK test is encouraged to ensure everyone’s safety.
    • If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please inform our staffs immediately, and we will escort you to the nearest medic bay/clinic:
